An unusual small sized verge fusee by the son of the illustrious chronometer maker Thomas Earnshaw Sr.; following the passing of his father in 1829, Thomas Earnshaw Jr. continued the family business and produced watches in a wide range of styles with various escapement types. Selections from the collection of Tom McIntyre. Mr. McIntyre's website contains stories on many of the watches which can be found here: https://awco.org?collid=300
CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking weakly on a partial wind but winding very stiffly so not tested with more than partial wind so as to not put undue stress prior to next owner's servicing, watch must be handled carefully when case is open as a portion of dial plate has torn separate near hinge area so mvt is not currently secured within case and mvt lifts fully out independent of hinge function, otherwise nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, superb gilt tone; nearly mint dial with some mild micro-fine scratches; case shows light wear, ding to band at 3, reduced engine turning detail with some areas of full loss at shoulders; bow pivots freely; good glass crystal.
